Helen Virginia Summers Baltimore, age 83, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004. She was a native of Hume, Va., but had made Portsmouth her home for the last seven years. She was a retired domestic worker and caretaker.

Mrs. Baltimore was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baltimore, three brothers and two sisters.

The relatives and friends of Mrs. Helen Baltimore, those of her children, Paul T. Baltimore of Texas, Dr. Carroll A. Baltimore Sr. (Elizabeth) of Alexandria, Va., and Dr. Daniel L. Baltimore (Linda) of Portsmouth, Va.; her sisters, Mary Lewis (James), Estelle Thompson (William), Katie Gibbs and Joyce Palmer; her brothers, Sterling Summers (Gwen) and Earl Summers (Alice); her 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren are invited to attend her funeral services on Friday, Dec. 31, at noon at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 5738 Colonial Trail East, Surry, Va., Dr. Carroll A. Baltimore Sr. Eulogist and Dr. William H. Gibbs of Antioch Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., presiding. A service of celebration will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the Providence Baptist Church, Orlean, Va., with Dr. Daniel L. Baltimore, Eulogist and the Rev. Leonard Morton, Pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Mount Morris Cemetery, Hume, Va. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. the day of the service at the respective churches.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given in the form of monetary contributions to the Baltimore family through the Mount Nebo Baptist Church or an account at any BB&T; branch bank.
