Phyllis M. Peterson - Spring Valley

Funeral Mass for Phyllis M. Peterson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Steve Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7, with a Rosary being recited at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Phyllis Mary Peterson, 91, of Spring Valley, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had resided for about three years.

Phyllis was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Utica, to Oscar and Amazelie (Morin) Kieselhorst. She was united in marriage to Leighton Peterson in Lewiston on June 10, 1943, and together they had four daughters: Mary, Barbara, Jeri and Debra. Leighton passed away May 16, 1975. Phyllis was a homemaker and also worked as a housekeeper at the Stewartville Care Center and the Spring Valley Hospital.

She enjoyed putting together puzzles, going fishing, playing cards and taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dave) Hadland of Spring Valley, Jeri Peterson and her husband, Karl Eisbach, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Debra (Mark) Brostrom of Tasmania, Australia; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Gloria Gibbs of Winona; and a brother-in-law, Curtis Peterson of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter and seven siblings.
