Colorado Springs Bicyclist Dies After Dump Truck Collision

The 32-year-old Colorado Springs man succumbed to his injuries Sunday after getting hit by a dump truck, say police.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO β€” A bicyclist who was hit by a dump truck last week on a city street died of his injuries on Sunday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department. The police are asking the public for information about the collision in broad daylight on Tuesday, April 16, in which a dump truck hit Jeffrey Alcorn, 32, of Colorado Springs.

The police are investigating the accident and no charges have been filed. "It is not believed that excessive speeds or impairment were involved," they said in a statement.

The police on Monday did not release the name or age of the truck driver on the department's Facebook page

At 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, the police were notified of the collision at the intersection of North Union Boulevard and East Fillmore Street, near the Colorado springs Country Club (see map below).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Alcorn, who was suffering from serious injuries. They took him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police said they determined that the dump truck was moving southbound on North Union Boulevard when it made a right turn onto westbound East Fillmore Street on a green light.

While making the turn, the truck struck Alcorn, who was attempting to cross the intersection on North Union Boulevard.
