SKIPPERVILLE, Alabama -- G.W. Long 33-10 at Rebel Stadium in Friday's Class 2A quarterfinals.

Sixth-ranked Elba (13-0) and advanced to next week’s 2A semifinals against No. 2 Washington County, a 60-0 winner over Flomaton on Friday. Washington County has been a state runner-up the last two years.

G.W. Long’s season ended at 11-1, its best record since 2001, with an appearance in the third round of the playoffs.

“It awesome (to advance),” Elba coach Ed Rigby said. “I am happy for our kids and the hard work, dedication and playing through different things. I am very, very happy for them.”

Elba scored on a 72-yard pass from Blake Edwards to Chance Johnson in the game's opening minute, and Caleb Martin’s 25-yard field goal made it 11-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Ramsey Rigby, the coach's son, hooked up with Edwards on a 70-yard touchdown pass, and they later hooked up on a 21-yard touchdown.

Elba finished with 244 yards passing, 172 from Rigby, who was also 10-of-16 passing with two touchdowns. The Tigers added 173 yards rushing.

Long finished 233 yards, earning 165 in the second half.
