Water rescues in Franklin, Jackson counties
FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Several people have been rescued due to high water and heavy rain.
According to Franklin County EMA, there was a water rescue in Franklin County, Illinois on Thursday, April 25.
EMA Special Operations Dive Team were dispatched to State Highway 14 at the Viaduct in Macedonia for two vehicles off in the water.
The dive team was called off, but four people were rescued by the North Ewing Fire Department. Crews said the water was receeding but they were still out monitoring at nearly 10 p.m.
Meantime, at 7:50 p.m., emergency management reported up to two feet of water over the road on Highway 14 near Macedonia, and water over Route 34 near Hanaford.
Flooding was also causing travel problems in Benton.
High water has been reported over State Highway 148 near 4th St. (Casey’s) in Christopher.
Meanwhile in Jackson County, Makanda Township Fire Dept. confirms they rescued victims from high water around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 on Lower Cobden Rd.
Everyone is reported safe but the water over the road there is rising still.
The Fire department asks people to turn around - don’t drown - especially at night.
There has also been flooding in Missouri.
