The name chosen for a new housing development in Moray has been picked to reflect an ancient name of a local landmark.
Hanover Housing Association invited suggestions for what the name of its complex on the site of the former Spynie Hospital in Elgin should be called.
Yesterday it was announced that Loxa Court has been picked as the winning entry.
Elgin resident Alistair McPherson suggested the title after being inspired by the Roman name for the nearby River Lossie.
Loxa Court, which will have 44 homes, is due to open in the autumn and will include a mix of extra-care flats and wheelchair-accessible flats as well as two-bedroom cottages and flats.

The project has been developed in partnership with Health and Social Care Moray and the Scottish Government and is being built by Robertsons.
Adam Curry, Hanover’s director of organisational services, said: “We had a number of excellent suggestions for names for our new development at Spynie in Elgin but Alistair really hit the brief with his suggestion of Loxa Court.
“There is a clear connection to the local community and Loxa Court also reflects the history of the area.
“I would like to congratulate Alistair for his creative suggestion and look forward to welcoming him to the opening of Loxa Court later in the year.”
