Bison herd management training set

CONCHO – The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Oklahoma Tribal Conservation Advisory Council and the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes have scheduled a bison tour and a herd management training workshop on Nov. 15.

The workshop is free and open to the public. The training will focus on establishing a bison herd, pasture management, infrastructure, economic development possibilities, marketing sources, and resources for processing bison meat. Speakers will include USDA-NRCS Tribal Liaison Carol Crouch, Randy Hawk and Nathan Hart with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, and bison producer Tim Frasier.

The tour and workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. with pre-registration at the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Rollin Haag Native American Church Center at 200 Wolf Robe Cir. in Concho. Lunch will be provided. Reservations can be made with Hart at 405-626-6682 or [email protected].
