Several hours before the six tornadoes touched down, the National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado warning at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday for counties south of Houston.
As the storms continued to move through the area, the subsequent warnings were expanded.
As many as 10 Texas counties were included in the National Weather Service warning at the height of the storm.
A survey of the affected areas south of Houston revealed the erratic and meandering path as the small tornadoes destroyed fences, downed decades old trees, ripped chimney’s from the roofs of homes and flattened barns in some rural areas.

One woman was reported injured by debris from a tornado, and miles away in Magnolia, Texas, an 18-year old Magnolia High School student was killed when she lost control of her car and skidded into oncoming traffic and hit an 18-wheeler.
