Beaver 36, Laurel 0 FINAL

Staff reports

BEAVER - The Beaver High School football team could have easily found itself facing a trap game when it hosted Laurel on Friday night. The Bobcats were coming off a hard-fought loss to Aliquippa a week ago, while rival Beaver Falls loomed on the horizon next week.

After a scoreless first quarter Beaver got untracked, rolling to a 36-0 victory over Laurel. The Bobcats, who improved to 6-1 in the Parkway Conference and 7-1 overall, clinched a berth in the WPIAL playoffs.

Beaver was led by quarterback Christian Herstine, who amassed 104 yards of total offense and scored a touchdown. Beaver got on the board first on a 14-yard run by Curt Lanctot and extended it lead to 14-0 at halftime when Herstine broke loose for a 17-yard TD run.

The Bobcats extended their lead to 21-0 early in the third quarter when Darian Bradley went over from the 1.

In the fourth quarter, Zeesha Braslawsce scooped up a Laurel fumble and rambled 68 yards for a score before teammate John Griffin induced the mercy rule with a 1-yard TD run.
