Granby Obituary: Priscilla Warnke, 65

Condolences to her family and friends.

Priscilla Anne (Morneault) Warnke, 65, of Granby, beloved wife of James Nelson Warnke, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. As she took her last earthly breath, family members were by her side, holding both of her hands and comforting her as she transitioned from this life to the next.

She was the eldest daughter of the late Raoul Joseph Morneault and Jeannette (Chouinard) Morneault. Priscilla was born on May 18, 1952, and grew up in Hartford, graduating from Hartford Public High School, Class of 1970. It was there she met her high school sweetheart and future husband of 44 years, Jimmy. The couple married on June 9, 1973, and soon moved to Granby where they resided in the same home for 43 years. Priscilla was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a proud grandmother.

After working for Hartford National Bank for five years, she spent the next decade raising her two children. Priscilla then returned to work for twelve years, joining Education & Training Programs (ETP) in Bloomfield and Windsor. In 2001 a family friend formed a new company in her hometown of Granby, and entrusted Priscilla as the Juniper RE office manager until she retired at the age of 60.

Early retirement afforded Priscilla the opportunity to take month-long trips to visit her four grandchildren in Colorado as well as help raise her two grandchildren in Connecticut. She cared very much for the community and was a member of Granby's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Priscilla took pride in cooking and baking, always making sure everyone around her during the holidays and special events were well-fed and happy. Her delicious dinners and sweet treats remain legendary among the family and friends who shared her dinner table. While crafting her creations, she was always more concerned with the comfort of others than she was her own. Her unique recipes will memorialize her life, as she took the time and patience to teach her special gift to the next two generations.

Through various leagues in the Farmington Valley and Hartford County she made numerous lifelong friends whom she cherished deeply. Priscilla never missed her sons' music concerts and baseball, soccer, or basketball games and tennis matches. Her voice was always recognized from the sidelines, where she boisterously cheered on her children and their friends as they faced the competition.

In addition to her husband Jim, Priscilla leaves behind two beloved sons, Jason James Warnke and his wife Jodi (Wallach) of Avon, and Kevin James Warnke and his wife Page (Ellis) of Castle Rock, CO; two sisters Arlene Procaccini and her husband James of Southington, and Diane Babcock and her husband Michael of Belton, SC; six cherished grandchildren, Jamison, Carter, Lorelai, Charlotte, Chase and Cooper.
