Leonia woman allegedly hits state police car, faces DWI charges

Carolyn Sobering of Leonia was arrested on charges of allegedly driving while intoxicated, authorities said Wednesday, after she struck a state trooper car which blocked off a construction zone Tuesday night.

A state trooper was parked facing north on Grand Avenue and Fort Lee Road at 8:33 p.m. when Sobering hit the car with the Audi Q4 she drove, state police said. When the 74-year-old was stopped by police, she was determined to be under the influence, according to authortieis.

There were no injuries to the state trooper or Sobering, authorities said.

Sobering could not be reached for comment.
