No. 1 college football transfer Jordan Addison admits why he picked USC

Not long after Jordan Addison entered the college football transfer portal, most reports claimed the wide receiver was moving on from Pitt for NIL reasons.

Those rumors picked up when he signed with USC, but the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner says he chose the Trojans for football reasons only.

It came down to opportunity

"I was looking for a great coach and a good football opportunity," Addison told ESPN.

"I'm still figuring myself out and what I want to do and I feel like I have a great opportunity to do that where I'm at now."

Addison, in tandem with Heisman finalist quarterback Kenny Pickett, was integral to Pitt winning the ACC championship last season. The receiver led college football nationally with 17 touchdown receptions.

But Pickett's departure for the NFL and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple leaving for Nebraska in part moved Addison to look elsewhere for opportunities before turning pro.

USC has greatly improved

College Football HQ placed USC at No. 1 in the team transfer rankings this offseason after the school, under first-year coach Lincoln Riley, signed the best transfer class, including 5-star quarterback Caleb Williams, among others.

"... Just where USC is at, everything around it and with Lincoln here now, there's a lot of great things I feel like I can do in his offense," Addison said.
