PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Deputies arresting a man in Pasco County, Florida Friday were surprised to find a Capuchin monkey clinging to his chest.

Cody Blake Hession was detained after he drove a stolen vehicle into a ditch in Holiday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an arrest report, a woman called 911 after her car was stolen from her driveway in St. Petersburg. The woman said Hession found her keys under the floorboard of the car, which was unlocked and drove to Holiday.

Pasco deputies later found Hession and the car in a ditch.

“What they [deputies] didn’t expect was the Capuchin monkey he had with him,” the Pasco Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.

Deputies said Hession did not have a permit for the animal, which is now in the care of the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary.

Hession was arrested for auto theft and booked into the Pasco County Jail.
