Mark your calendar: Wheat walk in Clark County

David Karki
SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist, Watertown

The SDSU Extension in collaboration with SD Wheat Commission and SD Wheat Inc. is hosting 2019 Wheat Walk in Clark County on June 20 at Larson Seed Farm. The main goal of this event is to provide SD wheat producers with the latest information to effectively manage their crop.

SDSU Extension Field and State Specialists will be on hand providing expertise in plant pathology, weed control, entomology, soil fertility and general agronomy. The program will have an informal setup encouraging any relevant topic to be openly shared and discussed. Traditionally, we have walked into the wheat field and discussed about present or possible disease and insect pests, fertility management, crop rotation, weather, etc. We are also expecting representatives from the SD Wheat Commission and SD Wheat Inc.

Due to grant funding by the South Dakota Wheat Commission, there will be no charge to attend the event. Participants will receive publications related to wheat management. Refreshments and boxed lunch immediately following the event will be provided by South Dakota Wheat Inc.

Time and direction to the field:

• WHEN: June 20, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
