19 Laid-Back Wineries with Real Food in Sonoma County

That wine might taste even better with a picnic basket or a caviar flight

View as Map
Jordan Winery
| Jordan Winery

Often referred to as Napa Valley’s younger sibling, Sonoma wine country is all grown up. Now with more than 400 wineries scattered throughout its world-class growing region, plus renowned restaurants like the three-Michelin-starred SingleThread, Sonoma County has forged its own identity as the cooler, mellower family member, who also happens to be an easier and more scenic drive from San Francisco.

Looking to thoughtfully merge these complementary indulgences, many Sonoma wineries have elevated their tasting experiences by developing unique wine and food programs (all by appointment) ranging from multi-course sit-down meals to lavish picnics to brunch and even caviar flights.

The latest CDC guidance for vaccinated diners during the COVID-19 outbreak is here; dining out still carries risks for unvaccinated diners and workers. Please be aware of changing local rules, and check individual restaurant websites for any additional restrictions such as mask requirements. Find a local vaccination site here.
