Juelle V. Slinde, age 84, formerly of Brocket, ND, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

Juelle Viola Johnson was born July 8, 1933 in Ora Township of Nelson County, ND, the daughter of Verner and Julia (Hillesland) Johnson. She was raised on her parent's farm and educated in the area, graduating from Aneta High School in 1951. She then attended Mayville State College and received a teaching certificate. Years later Juelle would eventually earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education. In 1953 she taught at a one room school in Kloten. Juelle married Gordon Dale Slinde of Kloten on June 27, 1954 at Aneta. They farmed near Kloten for a few years before moving to Mayville in 1957. In 1962 Juelle taught for a few years at Hatton. She then taught in the Clifford/Galesburg School District for 7 years. The family moved to Brocket in 1971. Juelle worked at the Good Samaritan Center until 1979. She then worked at Miller Lumber until 1986, as Gordon died March 27th of that year. A few years later, Juelle began working at the Good Samaritan Center again, until her retirement in 2003. She was the Brocket City Auditor for many years until 2015. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and Council, she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal O. Gray American Legion Post #61, and was the treasurer for the Hoff Cemetery Association. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and working in her yard.

Juelle will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Kim (Lisa) Slinde of Baudette, MN, Kerry (Patty) Slinde of Dickinson, ND, and Julie (Keith) Anderson of Grand Forks; 3 grandchildren, Jamy (Jay) Nelson, Jason Slinde, and Julia Anderson; 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Ty, and Jenna Nelson; a sister, Arlene Eisenbeis of Hillsboro, ND; a sister-in-law, Joanne Johnson of Aneta; and nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Freeman Johnson; and a sister, Glendora Martin.

The Funeral Service for Juelle will be held at United Lutheran Church of Brocket, ND, on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
