Man convinced teens to send nude photos on internet: indictment

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - A man in prison for accosting children is facing a federal charges for allegedly convincing two boys - one in Minnesota, the other in Wisconsin - to send nude photos over the internet.

The federal charges date to 2014 in Van Buren County, according to a recently unsealed indictment in U.S. District Court.

James Theodore Pyle is serving two years, eight months to four years in prison for accosting children for immoral purposes in Allegan County. The offense occurred in 2009 but Pyle, 26, wasn't sentenced until Jan. 28, 2015.

The indictment said that on Jan. 11, 2014, he used the internet, including social media and messaging platforms, to convince a 15-year-old boy in Wisconsin to send an image or images exhibiting his genitals.

Then, between April 15, 2014, and June 17, 2014, he convinced a 12-year-old Minnesota boy to send similar images of himself, the indictment said.

Pyle is facing two charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, which carries a penalty of at least 15 years in prison, and up to 30 upon conviction

He is also charged with enticement of a child, punishable by five years to life; and receipt of child pornography, punishable by five to 20 years in prison.

Records showed that investigators used a subpoena and search warrant for Facebook documents, including those of an alias he allegedly used. He has provided investigators a statement, records said.
