Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains recognized recipients of the 2018 Women of Distinction, honoring four Panhandle-area women for their leadership and service to the community.

The Girl Scouts annual Women of Distinction program brings together and recognizes a group of purpose-driven, women leaders in business, government and philanthropy; who, like our girls, are dedicated to service and leadership.

The 2018 Honorees are:

  • Discover Award: Dr. Joanna Wilson, BSA Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic (HerCare). The recipient of this award demonstrates exceptional understanding of herself and her values. She uses this knowledge in every way possible to help girls and women explore and discover themselves and their world.
  • Connect Award: Sally Hawkins, President/CEO, Bank of the Panhandle, Guymon, Oklahoma The recipient of this award demonstrates exceptional leadership in connecting with others to create solutions in our community and beyond to make the world a better place.
  • Take Action Award: Brandy Sanchez, Vice President/General Manager, Nexstar Media Group, Inc. The recipient of this award serves our communities and advances the quality of life and opportunities so vital to the development and support of women leadership.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Natalie Stephenson, Outdoor Education Manager, Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains.  The recipient of this award has dedicated her life to serving in the interest and support of women leadership.
