Leo Yi Hong Li wins CTCC Race 1 at Zhuhai

Dongfeng Kia driver Leo Yi Hong Li took a lights-to-flag victory in the first race of the weekend at Zhuhai, leading the Changan Ford Focus of Martin Cao across the line in a race which was suspended by the safety car.

Leo Yi started from pole position in the Kia ahead of the SAIC VW333 Racing of Rodolfo Avila who was squeezed at the start and lost two spots, with Martin Cao up to second in the Ford ahead of the Kia of Martin Xie.

Leo Yi held a comfortable lead over Cao and XIe during the first laps, while Avila defended against the Ford of Andy Yan.

The race was then suspended behind the safety car on lap six when the Ford of Zhang Da Sheng and the Kia of Jason Zhang came together at Turn 4, with Zhang Da Sheng’s car buried firmly in the gravel.

There was no time to recover the stricked Ford Focus, with the race finishing behind the safety car.

The second CTCC race of the weekend is scheduled for 13:20 CST (7:20 CEST) on Sunday, with a draw deciding the reversed grid.
