Trans Mountain Road crash results in El Paso's 27th traffic death in 2019

El Paso Times Staff Report

A 25-year-old El Paso man died Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Trans Mountain Road in far West El Paso.

Jonathan Romero Torres, who lived in Northeast El Paso, died after the 2008 Nissan Altima he was driving went airborne and landed in a culvert, just before 4 a.m., police reported. A high rate of speed contributed to the accident.

Torres died from injuries suffered in the accident. Two eastbound lanes on Trans Mountain were closed Friday morning due to the accident.

This is the 27th traffic death in El Paso this year, a substantial increase from the 18 traffic deaths at the same time in 2018, the El Paso Police Department reported.
