Lourdes' Timm, John Jay's Murray zoom at Section 1 Coaches Invitational

Our Lady of Lourdes High School's Caroline Timm and John Jay's Sean Murray each won races to lead local finishers at Saturday's Section 1 Coaches Invitational, held at Bowdoin Park.

Runners compete at Bowdoin Park in the Section 1 Coaches and Officials Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Timm posted the fastest time in the Varsity I girls race for the hilly 3.1-mile course, 18:54.20, which was the second-fastest time of the day behind Varsity 3 winner Katelyn Tuohy of North Rockland (18:18.10). Timm won her race by nearly 13 seconds ahead of Shenendehowa's Julia Zachgo (19:07.50). John Jay's Rachel Williams placed 21st in the race (21:23.50).

Arlington's Riley Loughlin finished fourth in the Varsity 2 girls race in 20:33.50.

Runners compete at Bowdoin Park in the Section 1 Coaches and Officials Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Murray crossed the finish line first in the Varsity 2 boys race, in 16:55.90. He beat out second-place finisher Jemar Ortega's 17:03.70.

In the merged team results, the Arlington boys finished third with 187 team points, behind first-place Saratoga Springs (55) and Saint Anthony's (148). Arlington ran in the Varsity 3 race, in which Admirals Brendan Foley (17:09.00), Colin Waters (17:21.50) and Joe Morrison (17:25.90), placed second, sixth and eighth, respectively.
