Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarasanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is having an eventful time since his arrival here on Saturday. BJP leaders are making a beeline to him.
Even at the airport here, the swayam sevaks were outnumbered by BJP workers when Bhagwat arrived. The BJP workers and leaders claimed that they were part of the RSS since their childhood.
Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Rajya Sabha member Ashiwini Vaishnaw and almost all party MPs and MLAs were present at an intellectuals’ meeting addressed by Bhagwat’s at the SOA auditorium on Saturday.
As Bhagwat did not allow the BJP leaders to share the dais with him, the latter occupied seats in the front row. The RSS chief also did not talk to any BJP leader at the public place.
Bhagwat is scheduled to be in Odisha till October 20. BJP national working president JP Nadda would attend an RSS meeting and meet Bhagwat here this week.
After praising Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, the RSS has sought to erase public impression that it works only for Hindus.
“We want to remove the RSS label and let the society grow. We also want that RSS and society work together for the betterment of the country. Let all credit go to society,” Bhawat said while addressing the intellectuals’ meet here held ahead of the Sangh’s maiden Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal in Odisha.
