The clean-up process continues across small towns in Kansas impacted by Monday night’s storms. In Dighton, there was golf ball size hail.

“It was something else. I haven’t ever seen it like that,” said Kevin Harrison, whose home felt the damage.

Harrison has been living in Dighton for more than 20 years and says he’s never experienced anything like Monday night’s hail.

“It completely busted out the windows and completely demolished the skirting,” he said. “And, it was something else.”

Tuesday, Harrison spent the afternoon getting his home boarded up for safety. He wasn’t the only one. The Lane County Public Works building also felt the impact of the storm.

“Basically getting hold of the insurance company and writing reports and boarding up anything that hail went right through the windows,” said Michael Martindale, public works director for the county.

And while still recovering from Monday night, residents say they’re sure this won’t be the last time they’ll have to deal with clean-up.

“We’re in Kansas. It could happen tonight,” said Martindale.
