The Hollywood Vampires — a rock supergroup that includes actor Johnny Depp, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and rockstar Alice Cooper — will perform at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio at 8 p.m. May 18.
The band, which recently wrapped up a European tour, has done some original music in the rock ‘n’ roll genre, but also some covers, including Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and a mashup of Cooper’s “School’s Out” and Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall.”
The band was inspired by a drinking club for rock stars that got its start at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Strip in the late ’60s. Cooper was a founding member. In order to join the club, a person would need to out drink all of the members.
Cooper and Depp decided to revive the Hollywood Vampires, but without the drinking, and were joined by Perry.
When they get on stage at Fantasy Springs they’ll be joined by Tommy Henriksen on guitar; Glen Sobel on drums; Chris Wyse on bass; and Buck Johnson on keyboard and vocals.
