The son of Ayrshire blaze killer William Kelly’s former lover said he’s glad “evil beast” was caged for 23 years
At the High Court in Glasgow he was sentenced to life behind bars for battering the OAP, dousing her in petrol and setting her alight
THE son of blaze killer William Kelly’s former lover told of his relief after the “evil beast” was caged for life.
Mark Banks, 17, said the monster — who torched his elderly mum Cathy alive — got what he deserved as he was jailed for a minimum of 23 years.
Landscape worker Mark, whose horrified mum Eleanor, 44, saw the killing, said: “My mum burst out crying because she was worried he’d get out and hurt her again.
“To know he’ll be in jail for life is a relief. We felt like a weight was lifted.”
Kelly, 42, was found guilty of murdering Cathy, 71, at home in Kilmarnock last February.
At the High Court in Glasgow he was sentenced to life behind bars for battering the OAP, dousing her in petrol and setting her alight.
