Man struck, killed by train in Oceanside
A man was struck and killed by a train in Oceanside on Wednesday, authorities said.
The incident happened about 6:50 p.m. on the tracks near Surfrider Way and North Cleveland Street, sheriff’s Lt. Ricardo Lopez said.
The man walked around the signal guards and stopped on the tracks, according to the sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Eikermann.
The pedestrian was struck by an out-of-service Coaster train headed north, traveling about 50 mph, Eickermann said.
The man died at the scene.
