July 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The controversial auction of Sadavarti Satram took a new turn with M/s PLR Projects Private Ltd giving an offer to pay Rs. 5 crore more than previous successful bid. As the allegations are rife that the government handed over lands located at prime locality in Chennai at throwaway prices to a TDP leader, the government offered that it would conduct fresh auction if any person quotes Rs. 5 crore above the bid amount.

In response to the offer made by the PLR Projects, the Endowments Commissioner on Friday suggested the firm to remit a sum of Rs. 28.05 crore in the form of demand draft in favour of Executive Officer, Sadavarti Choultry, Amaravati, Guntur district or on before 5 p.m. of July 30.

The DD should be handed over in the office of the Endowments Commissioner at Tilak Road, Abids, Hyderabad, and acknowledgement should be received from the responsible officer.

A fresh public auction cum sealed tender/ e-tender within 60 days will be conducted once the firm remits the amount.

The amount of Rs. 28.05 crore would be treated as base price for the auction. In the event of highest bid in the auction than the base price, such party will be given the land and the entire amount will be refunded to the PLR projects. If no offer is received the sale will be confirmed in the name of the PLR projects which remitted Rs 28.05 crore.

The Commissioner said that the property will be sold on ‘as is where is basis’ and that there would be no registration of the property and only a sale certificate would be issued transferring the choultry’s rights.

The successful bidder has to secure a patta from Tamil Nadu Government through his own efforts and get encroachers removed at his own cost and that neither the Sadavarti Choultry nor the Endowments Department will be responsible for any subsequent actions taken by the successful bidder, the Commissioner said.

The opposition parties YSR Congress and Congress have been demanding that the government conduct fresh auction alleging that there were irregularities in allotting Sadavarti Satram lands to the TDP leader.
