Governors Highway Expected To Be Paved By End Of June

Delays are possible on Governors Highway in Homewood and Flossmoor as crews work to repave the road from now until the end of June.

HOMEWOOD, IL - A major stretch of Governors Highway in Homewood and Flossmoor is expected to be paved by the end of June. The thoroughfare will remain open throughout the entire resurfacing project, which has already begun in some sections of the road.

The resurfacing will extend from 75th Street in Homewood south to Kedzie Avenue in Flossmoor, according to a news release from the village of Homewood. It will include pavement patching, minor curb and sidewalk repair, hot-mix asphalt surface removal, leveling binder, new hot-mix asphalt surface course, pavement marking, traffic signal detector loop replacement "and any other incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project."

No detours are planned throughout the project, but the village says motorists could experience delays and lane reductions at certain times. It is expected to be completed by June 30.
