Back-to-school shopping can be a big financial burden for families, but this year, parents with children enrolled at Rosebud Primary School don’t have to worry about the long list.

A generous woman who lives in California donated nearly everything on the list for every student enrolled at Rosebud Primary.

"You can't put into words how much that support means,” Rosebud Primary first grade teacher Kendra Lorenz said.

Lorenz said she first connected with the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, last school year through an online organization called Donors Choose.

Its goal is to help meet the needs of classrooms across the country by pairing them with donors.

Lorenz said the donor had provided her first grade classroom with various supplies throughout the year, but she never expected their partnership to expand to the entire school, which serves just over 200 students.

"This summer, she actually contacted me and said, hey, what are y'all needing for school supplies? And so I passed along our supply list to her, and she said I'll take care of all of it,” Lorenz said.

Lorenz said the donations are especially crucial for the Rosebud-Lott Independent School District.

"Our families struggle, that's the nature of the beast around here, and that's OK, we work together, we get what we need done,” Lorenz said.

“It’s just amazing to know that somebody out there loves our kids as much as we do, and wants to give them the opportunities that we want for them, too,” Rosebud Primary School Counselor Amy Ballard said.

Last week, Lorenz and a team of volunteers sorted and handed out supplies to families enrolled in Rosebud Primary.

"It's going to save me a lot of money, so I'm very thankful for it," parent Alysha Willis said after picking up supplies for three of her five children.

There are still supplies available for families enrolled in the school.

Rosebud Primary Principal Alushka Driska said they can stop the school’s business office either this week or next week during regular business hours to pick up the supplies.

Classes start on Aug. 28 at Rosebud Primary School.
