The Louisville softball team outlasted a back-and-forth game against No. 23 Kentucky for an 8-7 win in the annual rivalry meeting Wednesday night at Ulmer Stadium. The game was tied at 7 in the bottom of the 7th inning, with two outs, when Taylor Roby hit the game winner to drive in Celene Funke. "I knew two outs and so I had to go. So, when I saw her make good contact, through the middle, I knew they were tight in the outfield, coach sent me, had faith in me. Throw was a little off and it worked out in our favor," Funke said. The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Cardinals came back to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second on a Kentucky fielding error. Louisville then had a three-run third inning, to take a 7-3 lead, before kentucky answered with a solo home run in the fourth, and then a sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th to tie the game at 7. The Cardinals win snaps the Wildcats three game win-streak in the series. Louisville (28-15) returns to ACC play hosting Georgia Tech in a three-game series this weekend.
