Sad news, folks – looks like Jessica Jones isn’t going to have one last run-in with Kilgrave after all.

David Tennant confirmed that the third and final season of Jessica Jones on Netflix will not feature his iconic purple-suited villain.

Speaking at the launch of his new series Good Omens at SXSW festival last weekend, David said his time with Krysten Ritter’s Jessica is completely over with.

Which is pretty sad, considering Jessica is the last Marvel man standing on Netflix, and even she’s about to get the chop too, after the streaming service dropped all shows connected to the comic brand.

However, the actor is looking on the bright side, and said: ‘I don’t really regard it as a cancellation so much as something having the life that it should have.

‘Three seasons of that story is great. Rather than thinking of it as something that was cancelled, I think of it as something that had three seasons that will live in the memory.’

Kilgrave featured most prominently in season one, with his super-ability to control those around him to do what he wills resulted in Jessica being forced into a relationship she wanted no part of.

After breaking free of his spell, she successfully ended him – but that didn’t stop her trauma coming back in the form of him across season two.

However, now we’re all confused about what to expect – as showrunner Melissa Rosenberg teased his time tormenting Jessica wasn’t quite over just yet.

Season three is due to come out soon, and will possibly Jessica face her worst enemy yet – with someone close to her crossing over to the darker side of superhero life.

And even after that, the character will get an audiobook with a new adventure, proving there’s still life in the complicated anti-hero yet.

Jessica Jones seasons one and two are available now on Netflix.
