The FBI says a man who robbed a Sunrise bank Wednesday afternoon may be the serial robber dubbed the Filter Bandit, now believed to have committed his ninth holdup.

The robber targeted the BB&T Bank at 3401 N. Pine Island Road shortly before 4 p.m. and brandished a firearm. Surveillance photos show he wore a black hooded sweatshirt and a dark mask, believed to be a dust filter, over his face.

According to the FBI, customers were inside the branch during the robbery, but no one was hurt.

Authorities are not disclosing the amount of cash taken by the robber.

The Filter Bandit is believed to have robbed seven banks in Plantation, Tamarac, Coral Springs, Davie and now Sunrise, authorities said.

During the heists prior to Wednesday’s robbery, FBI investigators said he had stolen more than $60,000.

The Filter Bandit is considered armed and dangerous, agents said.
