VICTORVILLE — Rock band Foghat was already a couple of songs into its guitar-wailing show Sunday evening by the time the sun set.

For those in the east side of the San Bernardino County Fair grandstand, a glimpse far past the stage at around 8:15 p.m. would reveal the the familiar pink and orange horizon of summer.

The British rockers, maybe best known for their hit "Slow Ride," concluded a four-day period that saw the Fair draw thousands to listen to Canaan Smith, Warrant and Metalachi with guest Red Not Chili Peppers.

Inside the venue, a few hundred sat in the stands or on plastic chairs, many bobbing their heads with beer in tow. Another couple hundred occupied the front half of the grandstand, on their feet and the energy appeared to grow stronger the closer they were to the stage.

The Fair, itself, remained busy on its second-to-last day this year. To walk from the entrance to the grandstand meant brushing shoulders with others along a stroll past banging drums, food and drink tents and the Desert Fiat Pavilion, until the heavy amplified rock n' roll screeching from there faded and was replaced by a Foghat guitar solo and resonating kick drum once through the grandstand entrance.

On Monday, more than six hours of music from three classic rock tribute plans is expected to wrap up this year's Fair. Grandstand doors open at 2 p.m. for the Rock Revival Tribute Festival featuring the Petty Breakers, Fortunate Son and Fandango — cover bands for Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival and ZZ Top, respectively.
