Ohio woman gives teen vodka, now faces charges in his death, reports say

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- A woman accused of giving a 17-year-old boy vodka is facing charges after the teen was found dead of acute alcohol intoxication.

Sandy L. France, 33, is charged with two alternate counts of third-degree felony involuntary manslaughter, the Chillicothe Gazette reports.

Jason Bartley Jr. was found dead Oct. 18 near an alley by the Chillicothe City Schools' homeless coordinator, according to the Gazette.

The AP reports France, who is the mother of a friend of Bartley, is accused of giving the teen a bottle of vodka before his death.

An autopsy shows Bartley died of acute alcohol intoxication and abuse of benzodiazepines, a drug typically prescribed to treat anxiety and insomnia last year, the Associated Press reports.

France is being held in the Ross County Jail, according to the Gazette.
