Diana C. Hinz, 68, of Cowden, IL, passed away at 4:36 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in HSHS St. John's Hospital Springfield, IL.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville, IL with Father Marianna Sathuluri as Celebrant.  Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church.  Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill, near Lakewood, IL.  Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Diana was born on October 9, 1949 in Pana, IL, the daughter of Ira Dean and Eleanor Julia (Cunningham) Cox. She graduated from Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1967 and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Cowden schools for many years. Diana then became a teacher for the Head Start Program in Shelbyville, retiring after 13 years. She later worked in quality control at Hydro-Gear in Sullivan, IL, retiring to take care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Shelbyville, IL and Friends of the NRA. Diana married Frank A. Hinz on May 30, 1970.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, of Cowden, IL; children, Frank E. Hinz (Kathy) of Shelbyville, IL, Christopher A. Hinz (Tonya) of Montrose, IL, and Kathryn D. Walker (Paul) of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Debra Thull (Dave) of Lakewood, IL; sister-in-law, Judy Cox of Tower Hill, IL; grandchildren, Konnir Hinz, Ty Walker, Ellenor Walker and Phillip Hinz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David Cox.
