Meet Patch Mayor Kristin Nogler: 'I Noticed Problems In Town'

"It's a perfect way to share experiences, opinions, news and events with our community and gives a local voice to others."

MILFORD, MA—Kristin Nogler recently became interested in town politics and learning more about Milford.

"I saw things, causes, services charities, things of that nature, that Milford has to offer, but few know about," Nogler told Patch. "I figured, what a better way to reach residents that might need services or help and not know where to look than writing about them? I also noticed some problem areas the town is having and wanted to help find solutions."

A close friend shared Milford Patch's callout for Patch Mayors, which are contributors to Patch who have elevated privileges to share stories that range from events to politics to businesses to food, and Nogler jumped at the chance.

What she loves about Milford: I love the diversity, the different cultures and the hidden treasures. I love all the businesses we have in town. You don't have to go far to shop and yet there are still so many beautiful, residential areas. And even though it is growing fast, it still tries to keep that small town feeling.

Why she wanted to be a Patch Mayor: I loved the idea of being able to write for the Patch even before they started the Mayor program. I think others would like the program and could be huge assets to Milford. It's a perfect way to share experiences, opinions, news and events with our community and gives a local voice to others who might not have a chance. Having local Patches help give it that local feel and gives residents a chance to reach out to each other.

Best place to eat in Milford: I hate to say it, but we don't really eat out! I was raised around my old school Italian grandmother who instilled in me the benefits and rewards of cooking. I love to cook and my grandmother spoiled us. Restaurant food just never measures up to good old-fashioned Italian cooking.

Best place to visit in Milford: Louisa Lake! My grandson and I just adore it. The geese and swan families, fishing, hiking and walking. We love it all.

Hidden gem: It wouldn't be right if I didn't mention Fino pool and grounds. It has to be Milford's best hidden Gem. There are so many things you can do besides swimming. The bike trail runs through it, you can fish off the bridge or just bird watch. The kids can run around during the 15 minute breaks at the pool. Plenty of room to play any type of outdoor games. You can make a day of it and not get bored. It has so much potential and we look forward to seeing it progress.

So, Milford residents: if you love city history or have a take on business development, like to go to local shows, are an artist, a mover and shaker in politics, if you run a company or frequent a coffee shop, then you belong on Patch. What's more, you belong as Mayor of Milford Patch.
