IT company to create more than 100 jobs in Crockett

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - More jobs are coming to Crockett. IT company Onshore Outsourcing will move into the building left empty when Angelina College left the city.

Onshore Outsourcing is working to grow a highly skilled IT workforce in rural communities, according to the company’s website. The company operates four other facilities across Missouri and Georgia.

Leaders at Crockett ISD are looking toward the future with the recent purchase of the former Crockett State School.

“Getting students prepared for the things that we do know are here and those kind of skills that will adapt to as their job market changes, they have the skills, they’ll be able to adapt and grow with whatever those positions are,” said John Emrich, Assistant Superintendent with Crockett ISD.

He said those positions are likely heading in the technology and IT direction and currently, students at Crockett ISD have a program in technology.

“Well right now that has been directed mainly towards the traditional AG areas. We have a very good welding program,” Emrich said.

They are hoping to evolve that program and send focus onto the IT fields by eventually partnering with Onshore Outsourcing by training and educating the next generation of students entering the workforce.

“The employment opportunities were dwindling over the last 10 or 12 years. And hopefully we’re trying to change that paradigm in such a way to bring opportunity back to allow people to enjoy their community as well as work inside the community,” said James Gentry, economic development director for Crockett.

Gentry said the company also provides training through their employees and will begin renovations by the end of the month.

Services include application development and support, manual and automated quality assurance testing and data and infrastructure services.
