One man dies in head-on collision on I-70

According to Kansas Highway Patrol, a Colorado man died after striking a vehicle head-on while driving in the wrong direction on I-70.

Authorities say Karl Gross, 63 of Colorado, was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Grainfield, Kansas when he struck a semi tractor around 9:00 PM Friday night.

Authorities believe Gross was ejected from his vehicle. The car then caught fire.

It is unknown if Gross was wearing a seat belt.

The semi left the road, crossed the westbound lanes and came to a stop on an on-ramp nearby.

The driver of the semi had possible injuries, but his passenger was not hurt.
