Death investigation in eastern Colorado Springs

Police in Colorado Springs were trying to figure out what led up to a deadly shooting early Saturday morning.
It happened around 3 a.m. near the Windmill Apartment complex on Lacy Lane.
After receiving reports of shots fired, officers say they found a man outside the complex with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the death is being investigated as a homicide.
The victim was identified as 32-year-old Nicholas Romero.
