THE parents of log crush schoolgirl Kayla MacDonald have thanked the community for rallying round them.

They told of their gratitude in a local paper notice following Kayla’s death last month on forestry land near her home in Dunbeg, Argyll.

It adds: “We would like to give a special mention to the emergency services who attended.”

On Kayla’s funeral nearly three weeks ago, the couple say: “We are overwhelmed by the numbers who turned out.”

Kayla, eight, was killed by falling logs during a walk with grandad Ewen MacPherson and his daughter Caitlin, 12.

A police and health and safety probe into the tragedy is under way.
