Daft Punk member writes music for Algerian film starring Mike Tyson

Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo wrote the music with his Le Knight Club collaborator Eric Chedeville

Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo has written new music for Gates Of The Sun, a forthcoming Algerian film whose cast includes Mike Tyson.

De Homem-Christo, one half of the elusive French duo, wrote the music for the film with Eric Chedeville, with whom he co-founded the record label Crydamoure and released numerous tracks in the late ’90s and early ’00s under the guise Le Knight Club.

Chedeville told French culture magazine Les Inrocks: “Guy-Man has made music in this film. Initially it had to be for a fight scene with Mike Tyson, but now it’s the final scene inside a club. It should not exceed two minutes, I think. At least 80% of the soundtrack was made by the two composers Matteodo Patrick and Jean-Jacques Ipino.”

Chedeville then added: “And the piece will not be signed ‘Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’ but ‘Knight Club’, the nickname that we used at the time for Crydamoure. The director is a friend of Guy-Man, and he wanted to give him a hand.”

On its IMDB page, Gates Of The Sun‘s plot synopsis reads: “An Algerian secret agent has to destroy an undercover paramilitary organisation that plans to strike against the country and its people.” The film, directed by French filmmaker Jean-Marc Minéo, is set for release in Algeria later this month (February) and in France on March 18.
