For Twin Cities Startup Week, which begins Wednesday, Google staff will hold library-based workshops in St. Paul and St. Cloud, Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, respectively, and lead 20-minute, one-on-one training sessions as part of the “Grow with Google” community economic development initiative.

Google offers a number of digital tools, from online map functions and business listings to spreadsheet and analytical services, that can provide a competitive edge to nonprofits, business owners, entrepreneurs and job-seekers alike

Trainers will hold hour-long workshops from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Rondo Community Library, 461 Dale St. N. At 10:30 a.m., Google staff will offer nonprofits tips on how to share digital resources with patrons and community members.

At 12:30 p.m., staff will walk business owners through “Google My Business,” a free tool to connect patrons to their business through Google Search and Google Maps.

Businesses will create an actual Google My Business listing that lists their business across Google’s products and services.

At 2:30 p.m., staff will demonstrate how to use Google data to drive business growth.

At 4:30 p.m, staff will lead a workshop called “Digital Skills for Everyday Tasks,” which explores the time management and workload management benefits of Google Sheets, meeting agendas in Google Docs, templates to created tailored resumes, and spreadsheet tracking to stay organized during the job search.

Walk-ins are allowed but space is limited. Advance registration is encouraged at g.co/growMinnesota.
