Award-winning Chevy Volt commercial proves electric hybrids will keep you safe from zombies

For all the faults of electric vehicles (in general), the Chevy Volt does have some pretty good selling points. It was named North American Car of the Year, 2010. Its selling price of $31,645 is pretty good for an EV, and the Volt qualifies for some tax rebates (in certain states) on top of that. And its range is so good that it'll help you escape zombie attacks. Or, at least, that's what Chevy's newest ad for the Volt suggests.

Zombie Ride, a short one-minute film created by Josh Soskin as an entry into the Mofilm Barcelona 2012 Video Contest, shows a pair of friends running out of gas on a desert highway as a horde of marauding zombies approaches. One of the men stumbles, and just as the duo are about to be overtaken by the monsters, a beautiful woman nonchalantly pulls up in a Chevy Volt to save the day.

We're not sure whether having a car that requires lengthy plug-in sessions is really thebest thing to have in the event of a zombie attack, but we suppose you have to be willing to suspend reality at all levels if you're even considering such a scenario in the first place.
