Allan passed away late night on November 8th at Billings Clinic after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
He was born to Kenneth and Alice Norby in Hettinger, ND on July 12, 1948. He grew up in Hettinger but spent a great deal of time helping his grandparents and uncle on the family farm. After high school he enlisted in the Navy, with the goal of becoming a CB. After 6 weeks in boot camp received an honorable discharge because of a knee injury from his high school wrestling days.
He was first exposed to the carpenter world working with his Dad, and worked as a general contractor / builder for 50 years. He built numerous homes and did countless re-modeling projects during his career. Included in the houses he built is Christy's current home. He took great pride in the attention to detail and keeping his customers happy. He taught Christy and Billy many things about building and passed on many of his perfectionist traits.
He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Sharon of Red Lodge; his loving children Christy ( daughter ) and Mark Kleinwaechter of Dickinson, ND; William ( son - Billy ) Norby and significant other Sharon Hodge of Minot, ND; his adoring grandchildren Chase Kilzer Culbertson, MT; Kourtney Kleinwaechter ( Byren Tobar ) and Jacob Kleinwaechter Dickinson, ND; one beloved uncle, William C. Powell, Mott, ND; and numerous friends spread far and wide.
Allan loved hunting and spent lots of time hunting pheasants and big game. In 2011 Allan and Sharon traveled to South Africa on a hunting safari, which was supposed to be a " once in a life time " trip. It was an awesome experience and turned into 4 trips spanning 8 years. For anyone who knew him he was proud to show off the pictures of the game he harvested. He will be missed by many, many people and will be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor and willingness to help others.
Services will be held Friday, November 16th at St. Agnes Church, rosary at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., followed by a luncheon. His remains have been cremated and interment will occur at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.
