Wayne County IDs road worker killed in crash

Officials have released the name of a 47-year-old Garden City man killed Thursday in an accident involving two county vehicles as he and another worker patched potholes in Taylor.

Two Wayne County road workers were struck by a county vehicle while patching potholes in Taylor on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

David Wolf was killed around 10:30 a.m. on Van Born Road in Taylor, county officials said. The other worker, a 46-year-old Detroit man, suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized.

“Today, a member of our Wayne County family perished in a tragic work accident, while another was seriously injured,” said Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans said in a statement Thursday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families as we grieve with them. This a terrible and sad day for Wayne County.”

Wayne County will have grief counselors available for employees.

The Taylor Police Department is investigating the accident.
