Take Two brought WWE 2K18 to the Switch last year, marking the first wrestling game on a Nintendo console since 2012, but it seems the reunion is short-lived: WWE 2K19 will not be making the jump to the hybrid console.
A statement released to Power Up Gaming from a Take Two rep confirms the Nintendo Switch exclusion.
"The game will not be available on Nintendo Switch. 2K is focused on making the best possible experience for WWE 2K fans and will continue evaluating all opportunities to deliver the franchise across additional platforms."
Last year's WWE 2K18 was not a great showing for Take Two, as the game's release was marred by complaints of framerate drops and how lackluster character models. It's especially distressing considering the Switch version released two months after the PS4, Xbox One and PC editions.
The decision to not bring WWE 2K19 to the Nintendo Switch may not apply to future installments of the series,t considering the console's growing install base. EA Sports took a year off to revamp the NBA Live franchise before returning last year and is arguably better off for it.
NBA 2K18 , the other Switch offering from Take Two, received more favorable feedback and reviews when it released in September 2017. This year's NBA 2K19 is still scheduled for a Switch release when the game comes out on Sept. 7.
The news that WWE 2K19 won't come to the Switch arrives on the same day Ronda Rousey was announced as the second pre-order bonus wrestler, the first being Rey Mysterio Jr.
