Farm Credit East announced today that in December its Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund donated $41,000 to various charitable organizations throughout the Northeast, including agricultural community and youth organizations, veteran assistance programs, food banks, charitable health and research organizations and various other not-for-profit organizations.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this support to our local communities and those in need,” said Bill Lipinski, CEO of Farm Credit East. “We started Farm Credit East Cares at the request of our employees who were looking for a way to give back to the farmers and rural communities we serve. We hope these donations help the organizations receiving them to continue their good work.” Farm Credit East Cares is a charitable community fund established in 2011 after tragic storms swept through the Northeast.

In excess of $20,000 was raised through the contributions of Farm Credit East employees across the organization’s 21 branch offices. With strong support from the Board of Directors, Farm Credit East matched all employee contributions.

Donations were provided to 35 organizations. Recipients included food banks and hunger relief efforts, such as Farmers Against Hunger, United Way, Central NY Food Bank, Friends of Assisi Food Pantry, Food Share, Enfield Food Shelf, Feeding America, Food Bank of Southern Tier and Open Pantry Community Services, Inc. In addition, NYS Future Farmers of America (FFA), Windham and Chautauqua counties’ 4H programs, NJ Agricultural Leadership Program and Wyoming County Cornell Cooperative Extension received donations. Funds were provided to veteran assistance programs, such as The Mission Continues and the Farmer Veteran Coalition.
