Mojo Donuts bringing gourmet munchies to Fort Lauderdale’s Circle House Coffee on 4-20

Mojo Donuts, the celebrated gourmet doughnut slinger from Pembroke Pines, is bringing its over-the-top pastries to Fort Lauderdale’s Circle House Coffee.

Starting April 20 (ahem, munchie alert) Circle House will become the first Broward cafe to permanently carry Mojo Donuts outside of its Pembroke Pines bakery. Former NFL linebacker Stephen Tulloch opened the coffeehouse (727 NE Third Ave., Suite 100), which includes a drive-through, in March.

The Flagler Village coffee shop will feature eight doughnuts to start: Log Cabin Bacon Bar, Butter Caramel Crunch, Strawberry Dream, 420 Stoner Munchies, Oreo Speedwagon, Bourbon Vanilla Chip, Raspberry Glazed and Tulloch’s personal favorite, Guava and Cheese. More varieties will be added within a few weeks, he says.

“It’s a full meal for me,” Tulloch says of the guava and cheese, best described as a Cuban pastelito in doughnut form. “I’m from Miami, and so I’m trying to bring everything Miami up to Fort Lauderdale.”

Tulloch, a graduate of Miami Killian Senior High School in Kendall, retired in 2017 after 11 seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles. He says Circle House’s menu carries several Miami-born dishes, including Wynwood’s Panther Coffee and Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop cakes and pies.

Mojo’s sinful, artery-clogging flavors are already highly revered in South Florida. At its flagship bakery in Pembroke Pines, Mojo pumps out 2,000 doughnuts on an average day, often with lines out the door when the bakery opens at 6 a.m. In 2018 the shop’s Miami outpost Mojo Donuts and Chicken, along with partner-owners Jimmy Piedrahita and Willie Muñoz, were featured on an episode of Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

Smaller pop-up Mojo outposts can also be found at the Wharf Miami (114 SW North River Drive, Miami) and at Hard Rock Stadium (347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens).

Circle House Coffee at 727 NE Third Ave., Suite 100, will carry Mojo Donuts beginning Saturday, April 20. The coffeehouse is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 954-870-6456 or go to CircleHouseCoffee.com.
