University of Miami basketball coach Jim Larrañaga revealed some very personal information today at the school’s media day: He used to eat 10 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups for lunch every day for three years of high school.
This raises some questions.
- Why only three years? Did he start after his freshman year, or did he stop before he became a senior? He appears to have completed four years of high school, according to some really in-depth research I just did, so this means he took a year off from this incredible diet somewhere along the line.
- Would he buy these candies in bulk? Or individually each day from, say, the little candy stand some schools had by the cash registers?
- Why can’t the University of Miami spell Reese’s correctly?
Now, some numbers:
- Coach L ate 210 grams of sugar each day for three years (minus summers, unless he continued this during the warmer months). 37.5 grams is the recommended daily amount of sugar.
- This means he ate an equivalent of more than 83 pounds of sugar a year — assuming he stopped doing this in the summer — in just in Reese’s.
- A baby rhino weighs 80 pounds.
