After meeting Jazzie B in 1983, Aitch became a long standing member and one of “The Original Funki Dreds”of the world famous musical collective SOUL II SOUL!, Aitch’s
knowledge and love of Soul music helped him to add an alternative component to the musical output of the SOUL II SOUL SOUND SYSTEM

From the blues parties and warehouse scene, to the birth of London’s Original Rare Groove era, to the ground breaking Sunday nights at the Africa Centre to the then legendary Friday Nights at The Fridge, Brixton, Aitch was there playing the tunes that really mattered.

As SOUL II SOUL (The Band) stormed into the music charts worldwide with their ‘Happy face, a thumping base for a loving race’ philosophy, Aitch further established himself when he penned the lyrics for one of their biggest hits “Get A Life” as well as many other tracks voiced by Jazzie on various Soul II Soul albums and other music projects featuring the likes of James Brown no less and The Jones Girls.
Don’t say, we don’t spoil you at the Village. X

Brixton Village details

Open 8am-11.30pm for the free music nights.

To get to Brixton Village

As before turn left out of Brixton tube, then take the first left to Electric Avenue. Walk down the length of Electric Avenue, this will bring you to Atlantic Road. Brixton Village is across the road. There is a small entrance opposite you under the railway. Alternatively crossing Atlantic Road from Market Row, keep on the far side of the road and turn right. Walk to the railway bridge then turn immediately left under it. You’ll find yourself outside the main entrance to Brixton Village, it’s just on your left.

Or if you want the really quick route…

Turn right out of Brixton tube station, then after walking under the high level railway bridge, take the first right down Atlantic Road. Halfway down on your left hand side is the entrance to Brixton Village, and on the right, Market Row.
